Sandbar willow is a distinctive shrub willow, with very long narrow leaves. It will sprout tall, thin, straight stems from its roots, and form dense patches. It most commonly occurs on river sandbars and on sandy lake beaches. Sandbar willow withstands flooding and siltation better than any other willow.
